Samsung’s ultrabook features ExpressCache technology, enabling booting from hibernation in “7 seconds” and to wake up from sleep mode in just “2 seconds”.

The Series 5 ultrabook will be available in South Korea by the end of this month. It will be priced from $1,125 to $1,298. There’s no info on pricing and availability in other countries.

Also, Samsung has relased a similar 14-inch laptop. Sammy Hub reports that it’s an ultrabook, but it doesn’t match standard ultrabook specifications. As you know, ultrabooks have a screen diagonal of up to 13.3 inches. Measuring 20.9mm, it’s slightly thicker than maximal 20mm for ultrabooks and weighs 1.8kg, breaking 1.4kg ultrabook limit.

The 14″ Series 5 will be priced from $1,167 to $1,341.

The product page on the manufacturer’s site still doesn’t exist and Amazon doesn’t say is if the 7e has access to Android Market. The retailer only says the slate offers Amazon App Store for Android, so a lack of Android Market access could be an explanation for the low price.

Toshiba’s next generation tablet will be available during the first half of 2011. There’s no word on pricing yet.

PRESS RELEASE

Neuss, 15th February 2011
Toshiba Computer Systems, a division of Toshiba Europe GmbH, today announced that it plans to bring a new tablet model featuring the latest AndroidTM platform to the European market. The tablet, measuring 10.1’’ (25.7cm) diagonally, offers superior video and audio performance, has embedded GPS and features two video cameras.

Consumers have the choice
“The new tablet based on Android consequently continues Toshiba’s strategy in the European tablet market,” said Marco Perino, General Manager, Digital Product Division, Toshiba Europe. “While Folio 100 is targeted at users looking for an inexpensive tablet that offers up-to-date audio, video and internet browsing capabilities, the new tablet, with its even more sophisticated audio and video features and its advanced hardware specifications is positioned in the high-end tablet segment.” Thanks to its back cover that is available in a selection of colours users are able to personalise their tablet.

Enhanced browsing and video experience in 16:10 format
Toshiba again has put a special focus on the development of enhanced video, audio and internet experience on its latest tablet PC. The Toshiba tablet, powered by a dual-core NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 processor, features a wide view 10.1-inch (25.7cm) diagonal multi-touch display in a 16:10 format with 1,280×800 pixels, providing ample room for viewing websites in landscape or portrait mode and allowing a cinematic experience for video viewing and gaming.

Video and audio enhancement technologies
The tablet’s Adaptive Display technology constantly adjusts parameters such as brightness and contrast according to the ambient lightening conditions, and therefore always offers the best possible image display without need to change any parameters manually. In addition, Toshiba’s Resolution+™ technology is integrated as standard. It enhances the quality of standard definition videos in order to exploit the full potential of the tablet’s high definition display, independent of the quality of the source material. Unparalleled sound quality is achieved thanks to Toshiba audio enhancements that optimise sound output to the surrounding conditions. This enables the tablet’s stereo speakers to bring the sound of music tracks, videos and games to life like never before.

Well-equipped and ready to connect
Toshiba’s new tablet will support Mobile Broadband (3G) (1). A built-in gyroscope, an accelerometer sensor, integrated GPS, and a two megapixel front-facing camera and five megapixel rear-facing camera comprise the features of the tablet. The Toshiba tablet has multiple connectivity options and ports that make it easy to integrate the device into everyday digital life. The tablet features a full-size HDMI port to easily share photos and video on a TV, as well as a full-size USB 2.0 port for connecting external hard drives and cameras, and a mini USB port for tablet as USB mass storage. A SD Card slot provides options for additional storage and transferring files. The tablet will also be equipped with 802.11n WLAN.

An extended choice of marketplaces and sharing services available
The tablet will offer access to the Google AndroidTM Market. To complement the Android Market experience the device will also be pre-installed with Toshiba Places with its own app marketplace, making it easier for users to find apps optimised for the 10.1’’ (25.7cm) screen. Toshiba Places also offers an easy to use content sharing service that allows users to upload their own content to the cloud. They then can grant access to friends and family via a simple notification.
