Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Netbook

Lenovo has unveiled its first low-cost ultraportable laptop, called IdeaPad S10. “IdeaPad netbooks are the latest in a string of recently announced Lenovo products, designed specifically for consumers worldwide and developed through our heritage of technological innovation and exceptional engineering,” said Liu Jun, senior vice president, Consumer Business Group, Lenovo. “As rapidly as the technology changes, today’s consumers are looking for mobile products that feature the best of basic computing functions in an extremely compact and affordable form, and Lenovo designed the IdeaPad netbooks for that purpose.”
The 10.2-inch Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is based on the Intel Atom processor. The netbook will be offered in two configurations – one has 512MB of RAM and an 80 GB hard drive, while the second comes with 1GB of memory and a 160GB HDD. The S10 is “one inch thick and weighs just more than two pounds”.
Its keyboard is 85 percent of the size of a full-sized laptop keyboard.
Other features include LED display backlight, a built-in web camera, WiFi connection, two USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, and 4-in-1 media card reader.
Lenovo’s S10 will ship with white & black and red & white chassis and Windows XP preinstalled.
The IdeaPad S10 netbook will be available beginning in early October, and prices start at $399. The IdeaPad S10 netbook will be available through retailers and www.lenovo.com.
