Microworks Edge Quad-Core Laptop

PC Microworks has introduced its new Edge 15.4-inch laptop. The Edge is a gaming platform, featuring the quad core Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 CPU, Intel’s Centrino 2 mobile technology, and the NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT video.

The Edge configuration with the QX9300 (2.53GHz/1066MHz/12MB) will be available is August 15. Other configurations, including the Intel Core 2 Duo P9500, T9600, or Core 2 Extreme X9100, available immediately. The quad core CPU cost additional $780, when compared to the basic P9500 processor option.

The PC Microworks Edge may be configured with the GeForce 9800M GT GPU with 512MB of video RAM, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory at 1333MHz, up to 320GB of HDD or up to 128GB solid state drive, as well as a DVD burner, Blu-Ray burner or HD DVD burner.

Display resolution choices are 1680-by-1050 pixels (glossy) and 1920-by-1200 (glossy or mate).

With an 8-cell battery for up to 2 hours of run time, the PC Microworks’ Edge weighs approximately 6.5 pounds.

The Microworks Edge laptop starts at $2,634, but the price can go over $7,000 for a configuration with higher-end components.
